Why did we start spotlighting artists? 

When you work in encaustic, your creativity and imagination can simply run wild.   There are so many different directions you can go in when you create your artwork whether it means you are glazing, scraping, doing mixed media, creating monoprints, or even just painting landscapes, portraits, and abstract works.  In encaustic, artists truly can approach the medium in their own distinct way. The artists who are featured in this section have caught our attention with their encaustic artwork and their continued dedication to the encaustic medium.  Therefore, we hope you enjoy learning about them as artists and in the process, perhaps you can pick up new tips and insight which you can personally use in your own encaustic endeavors! 

How are artists chosen?

To be selected as our Featured Artist, the encaustic painter is picked based on a variety of factors.  For instance, he or she is someone who has embraced the medium with their creativity, demonstrated impressive technique, has a thorough understanding of encaustic painting itself, and also includes Enkaustikos Wax Paints in their creative process.  The concept of a Featured Artist is to select someone who not only deserves to be recognized for their success in encaustic but also to hopefully help increase awareness about the possibilities of wax paint. The staff at Enkaustikos personally selects the Featured Artist and we in turn, contact the artist for interviews and other materials.  The selection process takes some time but we try to nominate a new artist whenever we see fit.  We thank every artist who has allowed us to interview them so far for our website.
